Every great comedy scene started as a small room with the right crowd — a back bar, a basement, a group chat that got out of hand. Mokery is that room, built for the internet: a stage where anyone can put on a mask, perform, and build the funniest characters online.

The mechanic is a cast, not a profile. One verified human runs a roster of characters — themselves, original creations, or parodies of public figures — and performs all of them from a single account. Each character can be linked to that roster in public or masked from it entirely, and either way it traces internally to one accountable person.

Everything else follows from that. Reach is earned from the audience and never sold. Every character carries a parody badge and a unique ID, so a hundred versions of the same public figure can coexist without any of them pretending to be official. And the entire site signals “not serious” on purpose, because satire works better somewhere it is the house style rather than the exception being tolerated.

Mokery is one person, one build spec, and an AI pair-programmer that never asks for equity. There is no team page because there is no team, and there is no leadership photo because a picture of three friends in a rented office would be the first dishonest thing on the site.

That is a real constraint and it is worth saying plainly. What being solo buys is speed: the concept, the functional spec, and the build spec are already written — three layers of documentation finished before a single component — and a working prototype is roughly eight weeks from build start. What it costs is everything one person cannot do at once, which is exactly why the written content policy and the v1 moderation and reporting toolkit are launch requirements rather than phase-two hopes. A platform that invites edgy comedy and ships the safety tooling later is not brave; it is just badly planned.
