The content policy

1. Scope

This policy covers everything published on Mokery: posts, replies, character names, bios, avatars, arena submissions, and any content shared through a public Mokery link. It applies to every character on an account, and to the account itself.

It sits alongside the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. Where this policy is stricter than those documents, this policy governs what is publishable.

2. The standard

Mokery moderates conduct, not taste. Content is judged by what it does to a real person — not by how offensive, crude, or uncomfortable it is to read.

Offensiveness is not, on its own, a violation. Bad faith is. In practice that means a joke aimed at an idea, a public role, a take, or an institution is in bounds even when it is vicious; conduct aimed at a specific real human being with the intent or effect of harming, exposing, silencing, or deceiving about them is not.

Where a case is genuinely ambiguous, the deciding question is the effect on the real person, not the wording of the joke.

3. What is welcome

The following are expressly permitted and will not be removed for being offensive:

• Dark humor, edgy satire, and jokes that would be removed on mainstream platforms.
• Parody of public figures, performed through a badged character.
• Ruthless criticism, mockery, and roasting of ideas, opinions, institutions, brands, and public conduct.
• Offensive, unlikeable, or morally bankrupt characters, played as characters.
• Profanity, absurdity, bad taste, provocation, and bits that do not land.
• Political humor in every direction, including humor about the people who run things.

4. What is banned

The following are violations regardless of how they are framed, and calling something a joke, a bit, or a character does not change the assessment:

• Targeted harassment of a real person — sustained, coordinated, or continued after being asked to stop, including pursuing someone off Mokery.
• Impersonation without the parody badge, or any attempt to present a character as the genuine person, organization, or account.
• Doxxing: publishing, threatening to publish, or soliciting private information about a real person, including addresses, workplaces, phone numbers, and unpublished identity.
• Threats of violence, and the encouragement, solicitation, or glorification of violence against a real person or group.
• Sexual content involving minors, or any sexualization of a minor, in any form, real or generated.
• Content that is illegal where it is published, including credible incitement, criminal solicitation, and non-consensual intimate imagery.
• Unmasking: publishing or trading the real-world identity behind another user's masked character.
• Ban evasion — re-verifying, or using another account, to restore access after a ban.
• Spam, scams, and manipulation of votes, Spotlights, or rankings.

5. Characters, badges, and impersonation

A parody badge is automatic and permanent for any character built on a public figure. It is rendered on the avatar and travels with every post and every shared screenshot. Removing, cropping, obscuring, or misrepresenting a parody badge is a violation.

Any number of users may play the same public figure. Each character receives its own permanent character ID, and no character is ever designated the official or authentic one.

Private individuals are not public figures. A character built to depict a specific, identifiable private person is treated as impersonation or harassment, not parody, and the badge does not make it permissible.

6. Enforcement

Enforcement on Mokery is account-level. Because every character is internally accountable to one verified account, a ban removes the person — not one mask.

A ban permanently removes every character on the account, masked and linked, along with their reputation, awards, greatest hits, and character IDs. Character IDs are retired and are not reissued. There is no partial restoration.

Lesser actions are available and are used where they are proportionate: removal of the specific content, suspension of a single character, or a temporary limit on an account pending review. Severity, intent, and repetition determine which action applies.

Re-verifying with a new email address or phone number in order to return after a ban is ban evasion, and is independently bannable.

7. Reporting

At launch, every post and every character carries an in-product report control. Until then, reports and safety concerns go through the contact form, which reaches a human directly.

Reports are assessed on their merits. Volume is not evidence: one report and one hundred coordinated reports about the same content are weighted the same, and organizing a reporting campaign is itself manipulation.

Reporting your own exposure — a character you believe is impersonating you, or content that has published your private information — is prioritized over all other queues.

8. Appeals

Any enforcement action may be appealed once, through the contact form, by the account that received it. State what was actioned and why you believe it fell inside this policy. Appeals are read by a human.

Actions taken for sexual content involving minors, for credible threats of violence, or in response to a lawful order are final and are not appealable.

9. Identity and data

Verification collects an email address or a phone number and nothing else. It is used to establish that an account belongs to a person and to enforce bans against that person. It is not sold, and it is not used to link characters publicly.

The connection between an account and its masked characters is internal. It is not shown to other users, and it is disclosed outside Mokery only where the law requires it. The Privacy Policy governs what is stored and for how long.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy is versioned. The version and date appear at the top of this page. While it remains a draft it may change without notice; once v1 is binding, material changes will be summarized on this page before they take effect.
